Croatia-Hungary-Slovakia in a day

We found a very nice Villa hotel last night in Osijek, northeast Croatia. I could easily recommend it if anyone ever comes nearby ( www.villaivanic.hr ). Very nice and friendly family that runs the place. They also let us park the bikes in their private garage and guess if we got surprised when we saw the nice shiny stone tiles on the floor! It felt a little strange to roll in the bikes in there though! After a nice breakfast we hit the road and this day ended in a small hotel along the highway (with no internet) in Slovakia. We crossed Hungary today and thank’s to the highway it was a quick drive. Even though we both prefer smaller roads the highway at least takes us somewhere, we’re kind of running out of time because we have a ferry to catch within a couple of days. 😦

Check out the floor in the garage!

Cute little ragdoll dog

The hotel.

Interesting paint job.

Croatia

Another interesting way to paint a house…

Jan is looking for his paper stuff before entering the Hungarian border

Up here they are not interested in the green card anymore, only passport. When entering Slovakia later in the evening nobody were even in the boot so the border was open to pass.

Approaching Budapest.

Hungarian village..

Gosh it was hot today! Wish the heat stays a couple of more days and also follows us up north. That would be nice 🙂

A quick shot of espresso and a glass of water. But why the water?

Great end to a great day on the bikes. Would love to be out biking in the south a lot longer! 🙂

Breakfast in Slovakia, lunch in Hungary, dinner in Romania

We are a few hours behind our schedule, guess we simply spend to much time talking 🙂 I woke up this morning from the sun hitting my face which felt great after two cloudy days with temperatures around 15-18 degrees. Today we had as much as 30°C! Very nice but honestly a little too hot when in the bike outfit, especially when driving through all those small towns when the speed is not very high because of traffic and bad condition of the roads. But we’ve had a great day on our bikes starting up in Slovakia at Pension Barca close to Kosice. After that we entered Hungary and continued along the countryside on a nice road and after a while the highway. Even though the old country roads are in pretty bad shape it’s a lot more fun to ride on them than the highway because there are so many things to see along the road. We simply had a great day. When entering the Romanian border in the afternoon we had to show our passports for the first time. The toll guys were very impressed of Jan’s BMW and showed thumbs up but had very little interest of my Harley, they couldn’t even pronounce the name 🙂 Jan was thrilled of course… Roads in Romania are supposed to be a lot worse than in the other countries we’ve visited so far and I guess there are even worse to come. We simply need to drive carefully because the Romanians don’t.

Anyway, tonight I got a message from a friend back home who just located our hotel thank’s to the GPS tracker and Google maps he informed us that the place we are at right now is called Negreni in Romania – we hadn’t figured that out ourselves yet. Isn’t internet just fantastic! Thank’s Anders 🙂

We are pretty tired by now and need a good night sleep so I’ll simply share a bunch of pictures below and let them speak for themselves.
Peace.

Hungary

Romania.

Slovakia……

Left Poland today and entered Slovakia. Beautiful ride across the Tatra mountains. Hit heavy fog for awhile but no problems what so ever other than not seeing much for about an hour. Crossing the border was no problem at all. Didn´t even have to slow down. Some pics.

A castle up on a cliff.

We stopped for an ice cream at a dam by a lake.

A slovakian goat tried to eat Tina for lunch. Or her pants at least……

Looks like flowers are another thing that goats like to eat……

Talking about food. Dinner time. See ya!!
