More pics from the spectacular Transfagarasan

I fell in love yesterday. With a road! The weather was just great and this road was so fun to ride! The scenery is totally breathtaking and on top of that all these wonderful curves! It easily turns your mind into childish manners – you just want to go again and again and again… My bike is a little too low though so I kept hitting the road with the pipes and the bag so I guess I simply need to change bike and go back here another time!
Oh, a Ukranian girl liked my bike which makes the score 1-1 Jan vs. Tina after the toll guys in Romania preferring Jan’s BMW 🙂
We had lunch in a cloud at the top restaurant and when continuing down the mountain on the other side there is a long tunnel and when exiting the tunnel the cloud was gone. This was simply a great day. Period.
Below is another bunch of pictures from the Transfagasan. We met some Hungarian bikers and one of them took the picture above.

New plans…

We arrived to Sibiu a little too late to be able to cross the mountain before it gets dark so we changed our plans a little. Better be safe than sorry 🙂 Jan took us to a very nice guest house in town where he stayed with his girlfriend last year. Luckily they had a room for us and we could park our bikes in their garden with a locked gate towards the street. Since it is still nice and sunny we took a walk for a late lunch and of course a cold beer in this cute little town. Cant believe how hot it is today again, must be around 30 degrees!
Time for another beer, shades on 🙂

Transfagarasan next!!!

Earliest start on this trip. Long day on the bikes and we hope to be somewhere around Pitesti south of Transfagarasan tonight. We’ll see how that works out….. :o)

Tina and Jan

Breakfast in Slovakia, lunch in Hungary, dinner in Romania

We are a few hours behind our schedule, guess we simply spend to much time talking 🙂 I woke up this morning from the sun hitting my face which felt great after two cloudy days with temperatures around 15-18 degrees. Today we had as much as 30°C! Very nice but honestly a little too hot when in the bike outfit, especially when driving through all those small towns when the speed is not very high because of traffic and bad condition of the roads. But we’ve had a great day on our bikes starting up in Slovakia at Pension Barca close to Kosice. After that we entered Hungary and continued along the countryside on a nice road and after a while the highway. Even though the old country roads are in pretty bad shape it’s a lot more fun to ride on them than the highway because there are so many things to see along the road. We simply had a great day. When entering the Romanian border in the afternoon we had to show our passports for the first time. The toll guys were very impressed of Jan’s BMW and showed thumbs up but had very little interest of my Harley, they couldn’t even pronounce the name 🙂 Jan was thrilled of course… Roads in Romania are supposed to be a lot worse than in the other countries we’ve visited so far and I guess there are even worse to come. We simply need to drive carefully because the Romanians don’t.

Anyway, tonight I got a message from a friend back home who just located our hotel thank’s to the GPS tracker and Google maps he informed us that the place we are at right now is called Negreni in Romania – we hadn’t figured that out ourselves yet. Isn’t internet just fantastic! Thank’s Anders 🙂

We are pretty tired by now and need a good night sleep so I’ll simply share a bunch of pictures below and let them speak for themselves.
Peace.
